Tom Cruise & Katie Holmes moving to London?

fp_1824884_barm_valkyre_london_012109Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes attended the premiere of “Valkyrie” at Leicester Square in London yesterday.  Katie is a brave girl wearing no coat in that freezing London weather!  Notice the fans in the background are all bundled up! Her hair looks gorgeous though!

After having a successful run on Broadway, Katie is interesting in expanding her resume on the West End.  So does this mean the Cruise family plans to move to London?

“It would be a fantastic move. Katie was absolutely brilliant on Broadway and to work in the West End would be a joy.

“It is something to consider for both of us. I think we’d love it here, even if it is so, so cold!” Tom confessed to The Mirror.

And in other news, when did wearing open toed shoes and stockings become stylish?

Joel McHale visits Craig Ferguson

Comedian Joel McHale visited “The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson” last night to promote his straight to dvd animated comedy “Open Season 2.” He chats about his bromance with Keith Olberman, playing Barack Obama, The Soup + Lavar Burton, Brett Michaels and all his diseases, and the 80′s.

To all my Miami people, Joel will be doing his stand-up during the “South Beach Comedy Festival” on Saturday for two shows, one at 8 pm and one at 10 pm.

LMFAO-I’m in Miami Trick!

I had never heard of this group until my buddy Jonny reviewed “LMFAO” in his latest edition of “My Virgin Ears.”
Yes we may be partial to the song being from Miami and all but it’s a fun song you can jam to in your car or at the latest “in club” on South Beach.

Check out their tv debut on “Last Call with Carson Daly” last night.

U2, can be disappointed!!

Get On Your Boots, the first single from U2′s new album No Line On The Horizon, will be released as a digital download on February 15th. Released on March 2nd(March 3rd in the US), the album will come in a standard format with 24 page booklet and in digipak format. The digipak includes an extended booklet and the album’s companion film “Linear” by Anton Corbijn. A limited edition 64 page magazine will also be available, featuring the bandin conversation with artist Catherine Owens, and new Anton Corbijn photographs. No Line On The Horizon will be released on 180gm vinyl.

Well, I must admit that I made the mistake of reading someone else’sreview of this song before I wrote my own. Although, their review was pretty much what I expected from someone who gets paid to write those reviews after they’ve been sent an advanced copy of the album along with some goodies freebies. I’m sure over the next 4 years Bono and Obama will become like Ebony and Ivory, but U2 did what any capitalist (not that it’s a bad thing) attention fiend in the music industry would do. They took advantage of one of the largest national celebratory events and turn into a self-promoting vehicle. Performing at one of the Inaugural events, U2 decided to break away from their incredible repertoire to perform a song that nobody gave 2 Lincolns about. Get on Your Boots is probably the biggest disappointment since Joe Biden was picked for VP. Lyrics such as: Night is falling everywhere/Rockets at the fun fair/Satan loves a bomb scare/But he won’t scare you make you wonder if this is the same group that survived the 80′s! Correct me if I’m wrong but I don’t see the connection with getting your boots on… and whatever that means. GOYB takes me back to another pointlessly lyricized hit, Elevation, with an equally up tempo beat. Unfortunately there’s no memorable guitar riff, just an annoying hook that leaves you wanting to pull out your old U2 albums and lock yourself in a closet. Once you realize how ridiculous the rest of the lyrics are it pretty much ruins your chances of ever enjoying this song. To add insult to injury, it seems like whoever they hired to do their album art cover wasn’t very creative either. Here’s an article where a musician here in the U.S. is claiming they stole the artwork from one of his albums. Not that I’d be bragging about it.

Wolverine: Filming Continues

90120p2_jackman_b_gr_04

Hugh Jackman has been on location in Vancouver Canada to film parts of the “X-Men Origins: Wolverine” movie. The talk on the street is that Fox wasn’t happy with the way the movie turned out so the actors were asked to re-shoot some scenes. But aintitcool.com got an exclusive e-mail from Hugh Jackman to clear up the rumors once and for all.

Hey everyone -

It’s Hugh Jackman, sending this note from freezing Vancouver. I have read a lot of your online comments regarding the footage that we are currently shooting and I share your passion for the Wolverine character and the movie – I owe it all to you guys!

I wanted to reach out and let you know that due to scheduling conflicts with certain cast members and location/weather considerations, we had to wait until now to shoot a couple of scenes. Please rest assured that WOLVERINE will be badass and hopefully meet all of your expectations. I am stoked by the positive response to the teaser, which clearly reflects the tone and scope of the film. If you like that, we’ve got much more in store!

In the meantime, here’s an exclusive shot of some characters you may recognize…

Cheers,

Hugh

Wow, I think I will start some online speculation about Hugh so that he can email me! Any thoughts?

My Virgin Ears 01.20.09

Click the image to learn about LMFAO!

Hello Kiddies! Here’s my second edition of this week’s new music releases that may be worth checking out before your favorite radio station plays it until your ears bleed. If there’s a song on here that I missed, it probably wasn’t worth reviewing, but you’re more than welcome to drop me a line in the comments section and I promise to check it out. If I actually missed it that is.

Keep in mind that I review songs that might be hitting the radio very soon. I know there’s tons of great unknown/non-commercial/unsigned artists, but we’re trying to appeal to the masses here. Again, if you submit it in the comments, I’ll check it out and reply or maybe even do a post on it. Thanks!

  • Fall Out Boy: America’s Suitehearts
    • Very cool song from FOB; I like the harmony hits (which for some reason remind me of Maroon 5) throughout the song even though the song is a bit slower than we’re used to hearing from these guys. This song’s not going to get you jumping around like their previous hits, but it’ll definitely get you rockin’ out in your car.
  • Framing Hanley: Lollipop
    • Imagine Fall Out Boy doing a cover of Lil’ Wayne’s Lollipop. Nothing revolutionary here, but I’m a sucker for rock covers of rap songs.
  • Melinda Doolittle: It’s Your Love
    • American Idol fans, get excited!! Finally a song from a former Idol contestant that doesn’t automatically get tossed in the Top 40 “junk pile”, with the exception possibly being Daughtry. Here’s a great R&B song with that throwback sound that’s pretty popular right now (Duffy, ugh; Winehouse, yay!) and it fits Melinda Dolittle beautifully! It definitely rings of that great Motown sound, especially with the strong back-ups (which are also probably Melinda). This won’t have much shelf life on Top 40, but your Adult Contemporary and R&B stations are going to eat it up.

Will Michael Cera do the Arrested Development film?

With all the rumors out there about the “Arrested Development” movie and whether or not Michael Cera plans to act in it, it’s about time someone asked him directly!

Most of the other actors including Jason Bateman, Will Arnett, and Jeffrey Tambor have confirmed that they will be reprising their roles in the flick. The word is Cera is the only hold out.

MTV
was on-hand at the Sundance Film Festival to ask the questions no one was asking.

Will Michael Cera be in the “Arrested Development” movie?
