It’s been a whirlwind few days for the children of “Slumdog Millionaire,” which Sunday scooped up the best picture Oscar.
Tanay Hermant Chheda, Tanvi Ganesh Lonkar, Ashutosh Lobo Gajiwalan, Rubiana Ali, Azharuddin Mohammed Ismail Sheik and Ayush Mahesh Khedekar made their first-ever trip to Universal Studios on Friday, checking out the rides and movie-making action.
And on Monday, the six youngsters headed to Disneyland, where they rubbed elbows with Disney stars, including Mickey and Minnie Mouse.
It’s great to hear about these kids who have literally come from nothing and experience a moment in life that even few Americans ever experience. Fame, celebrity, and wealth. Right now, these kids have it all and they were certainly the highlight of this year’s Oscars. Soon, they will return to their humble lifestyle and have this incredible moment to reflect on the rest of their lives. I hope this motivates them to strive for success and not allow the trappings of second or third world class divides to stop them from achieving their dreams. The producers are compensating them for their roles and have even created trust funds for them which will hopefully go to good use.
