Melrose Place gets its first resident!

The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2 actor Michael Rady is the first star to join the new CW remake of Melrose Place.  Rady will play Jonah Miller, a cute and quirky 25-year-old aspiring filmmaker who makes his living as a videographer of weddings and bar mitzvahs for the rich and famous after moving to Los Angeles with his fiancee a year ago.

Melrose Place part 2 is being directed by Inconvenient Truth’s Davis Guggenheim and being penned by Smallville’s executive producers Todd Slavkin and Darren Swimmer.

Morgan Freeman gets sued

Actor Morgan Freeman has some splaining to do !!

I had almost forgotten about that car accident that Morgan Freeman had been in in August 2007.  But the passenger in the vehicle, Demaris Meyer most definitely did not forget! Meyer has hired attorney Gloria Allred to file a lawsuit against the Dark Knight star.  The duo will be holding a press conference today.

Oh the gossip that is gonna come out!!  Demaris is going to give us the dirt on the relationship she was having with Freeman at the time of the accident.  Also photo’s of the scene will be unveiled to explain the severity of Meyer’s injuries as a result of the car crash in which Freeman was driving.

Freeman suffered injuries to his arm, elbow, and shoulder.  His hand remains paralyzed.

UPDATE: During the press conference held earlier today, Demaris Meyer said she was not having an affair w/actor Morgan Freeman.  She claims they only just met that night.

“I have been labeled as the ‘other woman’ and have been accused of having caused the breakup of Mr. Freeman’s marriage. Nothing could be further from the truth,” Meyer said

She claims that Freeman offered her a house to stay in for the night because it was closer to her job than her friends house was. I don’t really get what that means? Does she not have a house of her own?

She does say that Freeman was a “perfect gentleman” but he also had indulged in alcohol while he was at the party.

Meyer’s lawsuit accuses Freeman of negligence for failing to properly operate the car, and she is seeking unspecified damages in an amount to be proven at trial to cover medical expenses and her permanent disability, among other things.

Someone wants to mess with the Zohan!

Funnyman Adam Sandler is being sued by comic book writer, Robert Cabell who is claiming Sandler stole the idea for his movie, You Don’t Mess with the Zohan from his comic book series entitled, “Hair-Raising Adventures of Jayms Blonde.” The story chronicles a former Navy SEAL-turned-hairdresser out to get corporate evildoers armed with an Uzi-style blow-dryer. (Sounds almost exactly like Zohan!)

“He’s gorgeous, he’s gay, he makes the bad guys pay,” Cabell boasts on a Web site plugging his adventure hero.

Cabell has filed a copyright infringement suit against Sandler and bosses at Happy Madison Productions, Sony and Columbia Pictures on Monday in Manhattan Federal court in New York. He is also claiming he pitchd the story to Colombia Pictures in 2007. Shortly thereafter, Sandler began filming on Zohan.

In Zohan, Sandler stars as an Israeli special agent who lives with his orthodox parents and wants to give up his dangerous life so he fakes his own death moves to New York to be a hairdresser.

This wasn’t even that great of a movie, but hey it sounds like this guy may be owed some money.

Conan tips the “Richter” scale on his way to L.A.!

NBC says Andy Richter and Conan O’Brien will be back together again on late-night TV.

Richter, who worked with O’Brien for seven years on NBC’s “Late Night,” will become the “Tonight” show announcer when O’Brien takes over from Jay Leno as host in June. NBC said Richter also will take part in comedy bits.

This is good news and sad news. The great part is that Andy Richter will certainly add another character to an already hilarious show. Andy was usually the butt of many Conan bits, and Conan will certainly take advantage of that once more. On the other hand, this means that Joel Goddard (his current/previous announcer) who was equally if not more hilarious and certainly creepier, won’t be taking the trip out west along with Max Weinberg and the MW7. I can’t wait for his first string of shows in L.A.!!

Is your “Munchkin” good enough for the land of “Oz”?

“The Munchkins are so happy!” beamed 10-year-old Jessica Doherty, vying for a spot Tuesday in an upcoming stage production of “The Wizard of Oz.”

“I always wanted to be like the Munchkins and be so happy and excited like them while I’m on stage,” said the Murray Hill cutie while on stage at Madison Square Garden.

The New York stop of the national tour of “The Wizard of Oz” will run at the Garden’s theater from March 25 to April 5. Tickets are on sale at the box office or via Ticketmaster.

As the show hits each major city in the nation, it looks for local kids to play the Munchkins.

I was in performing arts most of my years as a kid, but I still think there’s a very fine line between a supportive parent and parents who obsess with making their kids famous or pageant winners. I’m sure there’s going to be some mixed in the throngs of “munchkins” auditioning for these roles, but it would certainly be a rewarding experience for all involved.

Considering the success of Wicked, I’m sure this was a no-brainer for the folks sending this production around the country. I just hope it’s not as disappointing as when I saw West Side Story on stage for the first time. To be honest, I don’t think WSS could ever live up to the movie. The Wizard of Oz? That’s a tough call. Disney on Broadway has taught us that.

Mischa Barton strips for FHM Magazine!

Wow!  I don’t think we’ve seen this much of Mischa Barton in along time!

The former OC actress is stripping down and showing off her extremely thin frame in the April 2009 edition of FHM Magazine.  But don’t think she’s suffering from any eating disorders.  She recently posted on her website to clear up any doubts.

“So lately there’s been a lot of crazy press about my weight and just so you guys know I’m happier and healthier than ever so there is no need to worry about me. Things are really well in Mischa world and I’ve just been watching what I eat.

“I still love my pilates and yoga, and have cut back on fatty foods a bit. My time in India and Paris really just helped me lose a little bit of weight but there’s nothing drastic going on!

“I appreciate the concern, I just wish the press wouldn’t harbor on it as I think it’s very unhealthy for young girls to read about and pay attention to. To my female fans: Just be happy and secure with yourself and don’t let other people’s perceptions of you dictate the way you live your life.”

In her interview she shares why she doesn’t read gossip blogs.

“Nearly everything that appears about me on the web is untrue, ” she says. “It really is. But they continue to write it because they know that I’m not going to spend money hiring a lawyer and then suing them. So instead I’ve learnt to take it in my stride, get on with my life and let all that stuff slide off my back.”
