Natalie Cole has kidney transplant
Grammy Award winning singer Natalie Cole underwent kidney transplant surgery at a Los Angeles, California, hospital Tuesday.
“The kidney came from a deceased organ donor through the regional organ procurement agency, One Legacy,” her rep said in a statement.
The daughter of legendary singer actor Nat King Cole, has been receiving kidney dialysis 3 times a week since September. She struggled with kidney problems after seeking treatment for Hepatitis C, she was diagnosed a year ago.
Her summer tour dates in support of her album, Still Unforgettable will have to be rescheduled. She will be taking the next 3-4 months for recovery.
Hooray for her! I just saw her on Larry King Live last month. Larry said that they got tons of calls and e-mails offering her a kidney. Her kidney failure was due to complications after chemotherapy treatments for her Hepatitis. I’m so glad she was patient and was able to get on a list and get her transplant so soon. Lucky woman. Miracles do happen, every day.
