Johnny Depp: London premiere
You gotta take advantage when Johnny Depp has a film coming out. While on hiatus we rarely get a glimpse of him!
He told Parade Magazine recently how much he loves to “escape.”
“I stumbled upon a tiny little island out in the Bahamas which I love. I can divide my time between that place and the South of France where I live with my family. For me, the place to be is where there’s an opportunity for normalcy, simplicity. I sort of slum around the world on location, battling incessantly to get other people’s words right in front of a camera. So to go and sit and stare at the horizon for a little while is pretty good. I think it might add a couple of minutes to your life.”
This evening Depp was in London to premiere his latest film, Public Enemies. Did you know that Depp is a fan of John Dillinger whom he plays in the film?
“I’d had a kind of a fascination with him since I was a little kid for some odd reason. The key to hearing his voice in my head came when I realized that Dillinger was born and raised in Mooresville, Indiana, which is about 80 miles from where I was born and raised in Owensboro, Kentucky, just across the Ohio River. That was the moment that everything clicked for me. I remembered my grandfather who, at the same time Dillinger was robbing banks, was running moonshine in Eastern Kentucky and West Virginia. They were both going against the establishment.”
Public Enemies hits theaters this Friday!
