His clothes seemed to be purposely a size or two too big for him, for I have seen other pics of him where he doesn't look as gaunt, and as far as his hair goes, it seems the stylist has taken thinning shears to it. Also Bale does not have that hair line that you see in the pics, it has been shaved.
