Did Jude Law hit a woman?
Jude Law is in the news today for allegedly striking a paparazzi when she photographed him leaving a London restaurant. The actor who is currently playing Hamlet at the Wyndham Theatre says the allegations are “nonsense.”
His lawyer Graham Shear said: “This is all nonsense. Last night’s incident was an accident. Jude was blinded by the camera flashes when he left the restaurant, raised his hand to shield himself and inadvertently struck somebody standing very close.
“He apologised and left. Pictures of this sort can often be misleading.”
The 28-year-old woman is claiming otherwise.
“He hit me full in the face. It was a real stinger, it was very sore,” the woman, Harsha Gopal, said in comments quoted by British media, which also published photographs of the alleged incident.
Law was arrested in 2007 for over an alleged assault on a photographer near his home but no further action was taken by prosecutors.

It was an accident. He had been very patience with photographers every nigth outside the theater, they are out of control. The ligths of the flashes are annoying and you can’t see anything. I think They are using her genre (female) to make him look bad, and that is disgusting. All my life I have been fighting with the fact that female aren’t diferentt to male at work, and people like her make us take a step back.
I don’t believe for a single minute that Jude purposefully hit her. The photos don’t even support that. What they show is his wrist hitting the back of her head as though he were raising his hand to shield his eyes, and he’s squinting against the bright flashes. I’m not for violence at all, but I don’t think that’s the case here. Personally, I’m of the opinion that the pap sees a chance to milk some fame or dough out of this.
