Be sure to pick up a copy of USA Weekend this Sunday! They recently had a change to speak with Robert Pattinson for their upcoming issue. They learned that he looked to James Dean in Rebel Without a Cause for inspiration. James’ acting, as well as his hair, inspired Rob’s portrayal of Edward Cullen in The Twilight Saga. He found similarities between the storylines also.
In lots of ways, it has a very similar character arc: An everyday girl brings this relatively strange individual out of his slump.
I love James Dean, and I can definitely see the similarities Rob mentions. And, just like James, Rob brings in the girls. He says he realizes that he probably could have handled the attention better from the start, but he really seems not to mind being compared with Edward so much.
Really? Would anyone mind being compared to a beautiful, strong, nearly perfect, mind reading immortal? Yeah, you’re right, who’d want that…
