John Mayer performs on stage in concert at the Metro Theatre on November 5, 2009 in Sydney, Australia.
While Mayer is off captivating audiences in the Land Down Under, the video for his second single “Heartbreak Warfare” has recently been released. This is the latest track from his fourth coming studio album “Battle Studies,” which will be released November 17th.
I have to say that I’m a bigger fan of the video than the actual song itself. Keep in mind; this is coming from a guy who worships John Mayer, by the way. I just honestly do not like hearing Mayer do a ballad. I know, I know. Sorry ladies, but you can’t tell me he doesn’t sound somewhat like of a whiner on this track. Nobody wants to hear that from him. Not if you appreciate him musically, anyway.
When Mayer was prodded about maybe letting his emotions get the best of him on this track, this is what he had to say.
“There’s a fine line between singing for yourself and singing for everybody. If the music didn’t sound uplifting you would have a tough record, you would just be listening to my baggage. There’s a big difference between inviting people to relate to your experiences and dumping it on them.”
I now feel utterly disappointed in myself that I had somewhat negative words to bring to the table in reference to the Mayer.
