Dashboard Delves Back to Acoustic
When I think Dashboard Confessional, my mind immediately takes me to a small yet eagerly crowded venue, low lights, acoustic guitars, and Chris Carraba’s powerful voice. Lucky for me and all those who share the same appreciation for their raw artistry, on November 30, Dashboard will be setting off for just that, an acoustic tour. Gangin up with friends, New Found Glory, the tour kicks off in LA and finales in Carraba’s native state of Florida.

December 1 – Pomona, CA – Glasshouse

While on tour, Carraba will be simulataneously promoting his latest album “Alter the Ending” which is currently available in stores and online.

Carraba was recently interviewed on the topic of “Alter the Ending” and this is what he had to say about some of his influences, as well as his progression as an artist.
“Tom Petty, Springsteen, Neil Young, and Pearl Jam…these are the people I look to,” says Chris Carrabba, “They do what they want and follow their hearts, going wherever their music is taking them. I look to those guys, and I start to think: how does it work for them? What were they holding on to, and do I hold on to that as well?”
Breaking away from his punk rock roots, I’d say that Carraba learned quickly how to follow his heart. That is how he found and created Dashboard Confessional. It was only when he chose to give up on his familiar sounding punk rock bands and grab his acoustic guitar, that he set out and was set apart to truly make his own art through music.
“When I started Dashboard eight years ago, I was reacting to these other bands I had been in,” says Carrabba, referring to his time in the bands the Vacant Andys and Further Seems Forever. “At the time, I needed something…simpler.”
I believe Carraba and the gang have grown and progressed tremendously, in order to set themselves apart from their colleagues. A sound that is truly one of a kind… Truly, Dashboard Confessional.
