Up and coming in the game, pretty boy rapper Drizzy Drake is no stranger to the spotlight any more. He has managed to make the unthinkable transition from a small Degrassi set to Grammy nominated artist. There’s no doubt the man is definitely doing big things.
In regards to his two Grammy nominations, both for “Best I Ever had,” hip hop’s latest golden boy had this to say.
“Whether I take them home or not, this is an amazing moment for me. Everybody knows the Grammys are the awards to receive as a musician. It symbolizes not popularity, but great music. Also, Grammys are what kept me up at night while I was in high school. Grammys are why I work so hard. This is the goal: to win a Grammy. If it happens, it’ll be [marked off of my] life checklist.”
On top of the Canadian singer/rapper’s two Grammy nominations, his debut album “Thank Me later” is set to drop in March. Although a bit delayed, Drake is taking his time in order to leave a lasting impression on his critics, as well as peers.
“I’m making progress on it. I’m hoping for March now. It’s just pulling everybody together: I had a wish list for my managers of everybody I wanted involved that stem beyond hip-hop. I’m trying to pull it all together.”
Atop Drakes collabo list is world renowned singer, Sade who recently made an announcement regarding her first album being released in nearly a decade.
“I’m really trying to work with Sade,” Drake says. “Lil Wayne will be on it. Young Jeezy, Jay-Z, Kanye will be doing work on it. It’s in the family.”
Even with that star studded line up, Drizzy still has one special guest artist that he leaves us anxiously wondering about.
“It’s this other one I’m excited about that’s kinda left [field]. It’s gonna be a great project — well-rounded.”
I am really looking forward to see what the kid can do, being truly his first project. Lil Wayne has mentored and molded him for a while now, and so it’s time to finally take the training wheels off and see what he’s got.
