It’s Official: No Season 3 for Flight of the Conchords

It’s a sad day for all Flight of the Conchords fans. The boys have announced, via their official website, that they will not return to HBO for another season of their hit television show.

Bret, Jemaine and James (co-creator/director) said “we’ve noticed the less we say about the future of the show, the more people want to talk about it, so in an effort to reverse this trend we are today announcing that we won’t be returning for a 3rd season. We’re very proud of the two seasons we made and we like the way the show ended. We’d like to thank everyone who helped make the show and also everyone who watched it. While the characters Bret and Jemaine will no longer be around, the real Bret and Jemaine will continue to exist.

While I have to say that I truly love the show and its hilarious characters, we have to respect that it takes a lot of work for them to create these shows. When I chatted with Bret and Jemaine during their show here in Miami, I remember Jemaine saying how difficult it is to come up with original music and situations in such a small amount of time.

Plus this is a very big time for the boys. They were both married and have welcomed children into the world this past year and with booming careers they need the time to get into films and whatever other endeavors come their way. The last episode of Season 2 really wrapped things up for us and I will still carry the hope of their maybe being a “special episode” someday.

Bret and Jemaine, thanks for the wonderful episodes and addicting music I will treasure forever.
