Miami’s Art Basel ’09

artbasel

The setting was a mildly humid, yet still refreshing post rain affected Miami Art District. With eager eyed faces wandering to and fro rotating from phone to camera to friend to art and back to camera, a low resonating jibber jabber filled the air, but the excitement was intense nonetheless. All in appreciation and love of creativity and art in general. Art Basel 2009.

Being a ripe, new resident of south Florida and a lover and admirer of art in general, I knew this was an occasion I could not pass up. It was my first time experiencing such a profoundly appreciated festival such as this, and I definitely left fulfilled and inspired to the max. Some of the most talented and infamous artists from all over the world had their pieces in many of Miami’s finer galleries. Feeding from and being inspired by fellow creators is a huge part of any artistic process.

On the Scene: Natalie Portman

natalieportmanny

Golden Globe winning actress Natalie Portman has begun work on her latest film Black Swan in New York City this morning. The petite beauty was surrounded by on-lookers as she shot scenes in Lincoln Center.

Portman stars as a veteran ballerina who can’t tell if her rival is real or part of her delusion in this cutthroat ballet business. Her rival Lilly is being played by Max Payne beauty Mila Kunis. Early buzz has claimed this Darren Aronofsky thriller will be “very intense” and will include a possible sex scene between Portman and Kunis!

Jude Law wraps it up

judelawbroadway

After a successful run on Broadway, Jude Law wrapped up his last show as Hamlet last night. He took his time and met with the masses of screaming fans that waited for him outside the Broadhurst theater on 44th Street.

Fans got to take pictures and chat up the hunky Brit as he signed autographs for others. Law brought his rendition of Hamlet to New York after his performance garnered so much attention while in London’s West End.

I’ve even heard Jude could earn a Tony Nomination for his performance in the William Shakespeare play. I’m so sad I missed it while in New York!

Colin Farrell is a frequent flyer!

colinfarrellflies

I would love to know how many frequent flier miles Colin Farrell has accrued in his account! He just returned from a quick vacation with his girlfriend Alicja Bachlede-Curus in Mexico early last week and this weekend the Golden Globe winner was guest of honor at a charity gala in Chicago. These are photos of him at LAX from today.

Colin showed his support for The Foundation for Angelman Syndrome Therapeutics during their 2009 Gala “An Evening With The Stars To Benefit The Angels” on December 5th. The event included dinner, dancing and a silent auction to raise money for research toward a cure for the rare neurological disorder.

Taylor Lautner is the next big superhero, Max Steel

TaylorSteel

Taylor Lautner has been confirmed by Paramount to play the title character in Max Steel. Twilight fans will be thrilled I’m sure, but more importantly, I think this will bring Taylor a broader fan base. The kid clearly has talent and a lot of potential beyond the teen romance genre. And, as with most superhero movies, Max Steel is sure to have a sequel. That would make two huge movie franchises early in Taylor’s career.

Max Steel was an animated series put out by Mattel in the early 2000′s. The story is of a young college student and extreme sports star Josh McGrath. After an accident at his job he gains super powers like invisibility and super strength. When he’s in superhero mode, he becomes Max Steel. No word on the actual movie, so who knows where Paramount will go with this, but I’ve got high hopes. They’ve compared it to Iron Man, which is a pretty good start to me!
