Actors Jim Carrey and Ewan McGregor had a very special honor bestowed up them today. They were honored with one of the French government’s highest accolades in recognition of their success in the movie industry.
The pair accepted their honors from French Culture Minister Frederic Mitterrand, who declared: “I love you, Jim Carrey! I love you, Ewan McGregor!”
The two are in the City of Lights to promote their new dramatic comedy, I Love You Phillip Morris.
Carrey plays Steven Russell who is happily married to Debbie and a member of the local police force. When a car accident provokes a dramatic reassessment of his life, Steven realizes he’s gay and decides to live life to the fullest – even if it means breaking the law. Steven’s new, extravagant lifestyle involves cons and fraud and, eventually, a stay in the State Penitentiary where he meets sensitive, soft-spoken Phillip Morris. His devotion to freeing Phillip from jail and building the perfect life together prompts Steven to attempt and often succeed at one impossible con after another.
You can catch it on the big screen in the United States on March 26th.
