Colin Firth takes home top honors

This is the year of the Firth! Colin has garnered numerous nominations and acclaim for his role as a gay professor in A Single Man. This evening he was honored as best British actor at the 30th London Critics’ Circle awards in central London.

I have always professed my love for Mr. Firth but I must confess he broke my heart this week. News spread like wildfire on the internet about his feelings about his role as Mr. Darcy in Pride and Prejudice fifteen years ago.

He says angrily: “I’m not remotely interested in Pride and Prejudice in any way and haven’t watched it since doing it.

“But the word Darcy is like a phantom that won’t leave me alone, like a school nickname that sticks with you for years afterwards.

“It was as if I hadn’t existed before Pride and Prejudice. I was hailed as a new arrival even though I’d arrived ten years earlier.”

Personally I loved him as Mr. Darcy and nearly all his other roles before and since. It can’t have been that bad since he returned to a similar role for the two Bridget Jones films!

Congrats to Colin and remember, we love you just as you are.

Michael C. Hall heads for the Chateau

Dexter
star Michael C. Hall is looking better each time we see him. Photographers caught a glimpse of the Golden Globe winner as he strolled through Sunset Avenue and visited Hollywood hot spot Chateau Marmont today.

After announcing he was free of Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in mid January, we have progressively seen Michael getting healthier. In these shots you can see a bit of his sideburns growing in and a little five o’clock shadow coming in.

With the Showtime drama kicking butt at awards shows and in the ratings department, fans won’t have to wait too long for another season. It returns with season five in September.
