What an amazing day at the race track yesterday! My friend Brenda and I headed for the Homestead Miami Speedway where Patrick Dempsey would be hitting the speedway racing in his pimped out yellow Mazda during the big race at 5:00 pm.

But we did not have to wait till then to enjoy the company of the Gray’s Anatomy star. He sat alongside his fellow racers to sign autographs for all the fans that arrived bright and early.

As a celebrity blogger you must understand I have met many celebrities. Sadly, many times it does not go as well as you’d like. Then there are those few times when the celeb exceeds your expectations. Patrick Dempsey was one of those such cases.

If you have ever had the wonder opportunity to meet him, you can back me up in saying what a humble individual he is. He had absolutely no airs about it. For the record, he had no idea I had any type of media connection. I know many could think that an actor would act a certain way if he knew he was going to be written about the next day but I went yesterday just as a fan.

In support of his charity, The Patrick Dempsey Cancer Hope & Healing Center. He began this program with the help of Central Maine Medical Center after his mother was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 1997, he explained during a Q & A session we attended.

He also talked about why he loves racing.

“I really love it. I love the challenge. It’s constantly pushing me to get better and better physically, mentally, and the camaraderie. It’s great to be around the drivers.”

As a pop culture blogger I felt I should ask something at least quasi related so I asked him what he listened to on his ipod. Well to be quite frank, the conversation started out more like this.

“Hi Patrick, I have been in love with you since Can’t Buy Me Love.” -Rosy
“Wow, (giggled) thank you for the support!” – Patrick
“You mentioned you listened to your IPod while you race. What sort of music do you like?”-Rosy

Then while he was talking to me I spaced out telling myself, OMG THE Patrick Dempsey is talking to you. I nodded, I smiled…..from what I remember, he recommended listening to a station he thoroughly enjoys which happens to be a public radio station, KCRW.

I proceeding to die while in my seat and be the envy of all the ladies and gents in the room! (Maybe even some of you! ha ha!)

Dempsey raced his colorfully decorated Mazda, photos of which I have included in the post. He ended the race in 7th place but number one in the heart of the fans!
