Who were the best dressed ladies at the Oscars?

Whether you are a fan of the awards show itself, you can’t but tune in just to check out what everyone is wearing! While many of the women last night played it safe, there were some that needed to lower the volume on their dresses.

Case in point, Zoe Saldana almost had a perfect gown. Sadly it just had too much going on.

This multi purple Givenchy dress looked dazzling from the top, then adding all those extra layers on the bottom was just too much. If it had all that glitter to begin with, I feel like the bottom should have been a little more simple.

Here are some of my favorite Oscar gowns in no particular order:

Elizabeth Banks did what I feel Zoe Saldana attempted to do. She wore a Versace dress with a simple top portion but rocked a puffier more detailed bottom. This might just be my favorite dress of the night.

Demi Moore in a ruffled silk organza gown from Atelier Versace.

Queen Latifah in a beautiful pink one-shoulder Badgley Mischka.

Jennifer Lopez wore an iridescent pink silk organza gown from Armani Prive’s Spring 2010 collection.

Mom-to-Be Paula Patton wore a tangerine Carolina Herrera gown that accentuated her growing belly beautifully. My favorite accessory of hers? Her husband Robin Thicke!

Little Miley Cyrus stunned me in this champagne colored dress by designer Jenny Packham. Her posture was horrible but the dress dazzled.

Sandra Bullock turned, what could have been a less impressive look, into a memorable look all because of her make-up! She wore a metallic and lace Marchesa gown. The color would have blended too much with her skin color but since she wore that bright pink pout and her flowy dark brown hair it made the whole thing work!

Rachel McAdams wore an Elie Saab Haute Couture draped strapless in dusty shades of blue and gray. Patterns are risky on the red carpet but she managed to pull it off!

Best Actress nominee Meryl Streep looked so hot in a draped, long-sleeve gown by Chris March. March was a participant in season 4 of Project Runway. I wish I could find a photo of the back of this dress. GORGEOUS, GORGEOUS, GORGEOUS!!!
