While he does have many devoted fans in the United States, Johnny Depp always brings out the masses at Narita Airport anytime he arrives in Japan! The dedication of his Japanese fans is very impressive. They make sure their idol knows how much he is loved as soon as he walked into their country on Monday, March 22nd.
The Pirates of the Caribbean star is visiting the Land of the Rising Sun to promote his latest box office hit, Alice in Wonderland. For the third week in a row Tim Burton’s 3-D exploration of the bizarre world established by author Lewis Carroll closed #1 raking in $34.5 million.
Depp spoke at a press conference while in Japan about his role as the Mat Hatter and why he was able to make it look so authentic.
“For me to play the Hatter wasn’t a great stretch by any means.”
“In a sense I think the character was kind of already blooming inside, ready to show its face,” he added, laughing.
Depp will only be in Japan for a short time, he will return later in the day to Venice to continue shooting his film, The Tourist with Angelina Jolie.
