Veteran actor Dennis Hopper attended a ceremony where he was honored with a star on Hollywood’s Walk of Fame in Los Angeles, California this afternoon.
The beloved star of such films as Cool Hand Luke, Easy Rider, and Crash is battling prostate cancer and appeared gaunt and fragile. He was helped on stage by a friend.
Hopper received the 2,403rd star along Hollywood Boulevard at a midday celebration in front of the landmark Egyptian Theatre. Also in attendance were Jack Nicholson, Viggo Mortensen and film producer Mark Canton.
The brave actor/director took to the podium, “Everything I learned in life I learned from you,” he told the crowd, referring to Hollywood. “This means so much to me. Thank you very much everyone, and Hollywood.”
His doctor gave him special permission to attend the unveiling today saying it was likely to be good for him, the Los Angeles Times reports.
