It’s that time of year again when the lovely folks from Empire Magazine, the biggest selling British film mag, hand out awards that are voted for by readers of the magazine.
This is going a little off topic but I just love Empire Mag. The glossy periodical is one of the most beautifully made magazines out there. Maybe this is the dork inside of me talking but I could never bring myself to even squish it under my scanner to capture an image from it!
The 2010 Jameson Empire Awards were held at the Grosvenor House Hotel, on March 28, 2010 in London, England. Our boy Jude Law was in attendance in a black suit and a light gray tie to pick up the Empire Hero Award. His detective film, Sherlock Holmes, in which he co-starred with Robert Downey Jr,also took home an award for Best Thriller.
Other big winners were Star Trek for best Science Fiction/Fantasy, Christoph Waltz for Best Actor for his performance in Inglorious Basterds, Zoe Saldana as Best Actress for Avatar, James Cameron for best director for Avatar, and Best Film also went home to Avatar.
Other notable awards went to Ray Winstone for Outstanding Contribution to British Film, Empire Inspiration Award went to Andy Serkis, and Sir Ian McKellan for the Empire Icon Award.

Wow, Jude certainly is very busy … from New York to London – Olivier Awards last Sunday – then to Paris, and today back in London to pick up an award! Nice that he won something for his great Dr. Watson!
