Actor turned director Adrian Grenier premiered his latest project this evening. Teenage Paparazzo made its way to the big screen at the Gen Art Film Festival screening at the School of Visual Arts Theater in New York City.
Supporting their friend at the event were Alexis Blendel and Gretchen Mol.
The documentary follows the relationship between Grenier and Austin Visschedyk, a fourteen year old celebrity photographer. It includes interviews with other actors and celebs like Paris Hilton, Matt Damon, Eva Longoria-Parker, Alec Baldwin and Whoopi Goldberg; additionally, bloggers, fans, critics, historians and other weigh in, as Grenier gets to know Visschedyk and his family.
“It was a natural reaction to seeing a young doe-eyed kid wielding a huge camera taking pictures of celebrities late at night to wonder what’s going on here,” Grenier said.
He added: “I’ve grown to learn a lot about the paparazzi and what makes them tick, and I learned about my ability to be exploitative in my own way.”
It is set to debut on HBO this fall.

Congrats Adrian and well done. I’m loving the short hair, makes Adrian look so boyish and scotching hot. Love him.
Grenier uses the split-screen technique to its full advantage. Split-screens can come off as gimmicky but here, we get a memorable glimpse of what it’s like to be on both sides of the camera… however temporarily, this bridges the divide between hunter & hunted. Couldn’t look away.
A thoroughly entertaining investigation of the papparazzi. Sows that turning tbd camera on any subject will create a reality distortion field.
I want to see it!!! Where is it available in the states?
