If you loved Natalie Dormer as Anne Boleyn in The Tudors, you will be pleased to know the actress has been cast by Madonna to play the role of Queen Elizabeth in her upcoming film, W.E.,about the Edward VIII abdication crisis is the pop star’s directorial follow-up to last year’s Filth & Wisdom.
Just don’t expect Dormer to portray the monarch as others have in the past.
“[England] tends to remember the Queen Mother as a rather wrinkly 97 year-old, but I am playing her when she was quite an enchanting, engaging twenty and thirtysomething,” Dormer said. “She was quite a savage and savvy game player.”
According to the Telegraph, her royal Madgesty is understood to be portraying Queen Elizabeth as a highly negative influence in W.E., which is sympathetic to Wallis Simpson, the twice-divorced American socialite, who caused a constitutional dilemma when the king declared his desire to marry her.
Sounds juicy!
