Talk about your comedic power duo!
Meryl Streep and Tina Fey are set to play mother and daughter in the upcoming comedy titled ‘Mommy & Me’ which has just been picked up by Sony, the Hollywood Reporter reveals.
The film will be directed by Stanley Tucci who co-starred in Streep’s other box office hits ‘The Devil Wears Prada’ and ‘Julie & Julia’. There’s no word yet on whether he will also star in the film or stay firmly behind the camera.
While the exact storyline is still under wraps, we do know that the movie will focus on both the funny and not so funny sides to any mother and daughter relationship. Joby Harold of ‘Awake’ fame has written the treatment and is also one of the executive producers alongside Tucci, Steve Buscemi and Joshua Astrachan.
Wren Arthur, Lucy Barzun Donnelly and Tory Tunnell are producing the film.
Fey, who will be co-starring alongside Streep is certainly building something of a reputation for herself in the comedy stakes! Her last comedic outing at the Box Office, ‘Date Night’ pulled in $98 million domestically. Let’s hope she can repeat that success with Mommy & Me! Though with Streep alongside her, we have little doubt this is gonna be big.
