On the 2nd of August in 1976 in a little place called Godalming, England there was a young man born.
Mister Samuel Worthington grew up in Rockingham, Western Australia after shifting from the UK at a very young age. He won a scholarship to the John Curtin School of Performing Arts in Fremantle before going on to study acting at the National Institute of Dramatic Art in Sydney. Graduating from NIDA in 1998, Worthington performed in a production of Judas Kiss for Company B at the Belvoir St Theatre before going on to act in a number of well received Australian movies and TV series; including Bootmen (2000), Dirty Deeds (2002), Gettin’ Square (2003), Somersault (2004) and Macbeth (2006). Sam won the Australian Film Institute (AFI) Award for Best Lead Actor for his role in Somersault in 2004. He’s well known here in Australia for his role as Howard in the acclaimed Australian TV series Love My Way, where he played the love interest of the female lead.
Since then, however, the international crowds have begun to take notice of our Sam (we here in Australia like to sometimes claim our success stories, our Heath, our Nicole, our Kylie, we even adopt Russell Crowe on occasion!) and his career in the Hollywood waters has been going from strength to strength with turns in Hart’s War, The Great Raid, Terminator Salvation, James Cameron‘s epic Avatar and most recently as Perseus in Clash of the Titans.
As the resident Aussie on site I felt it was my duty to dedicate a post to Sam’s 34th birthday and to wish him all the very best in his upcoming endeavors.
Photographed last week at the Giffoni Experience in Italy, Worthington was rocking a Voleibol shirt designed by another Australian success story, muchacho clothing. Good to see him supporting our local talent!
Warner Bros has officially signed Worthington to star in upcoming space adventure film Dan Dare, so we’ll definitely be seeing a lot more of him on our screens!

He was born in England, not Australia.
I’ve corrected that. Cheers!
