One of our favorite actresses, Edie Falco, has just claimed her fourth Emmy!
Her hair swept back elegantly and wearing a flattering, black, off-the-shoulder gown, she looked genuinely stunned as her name was announced as the winner for Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for Nurse Jackie.
As she arrived on stage, still awestruck, she exclaimed:
“Oh, this is just the most ridiculous thing that has ever happened in the history of this awards show…I’m not funny!”
I love her even more for saying that. Nurse Jackie is a Showtime series that features a nurse that handles the impossible demands of her job, while juggling an addiction to drugs.
The honor marks her fourth Emmy win, but her first in the comedy category, making her the first actress in Emmy’s 62-year history to win both the lead comedy and drama statues.
It’s up for up for awards in the remaining categories of, “Outstanding Comedy Series,” “Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series for Eli Wallach,” “Outstanding Directing in a Comedy Series for Allen Coulter,” “Outstanding Casting in a Comedy Series,” “Outstanding Cinematography in a Comedy Series” and “Outstanding Main Title Design.”
