NCIS season 8 took no time at all addressing the issues we were left to fret over all summer. It takes only moments to find out what our characters have been doing since the heart stopping moment in May when we left Jackson Gibbs (Ralph Waite) standing face to face with his son’s rival, Mexican drug cartel leader, Paloma Reynosa (Jacqueline Obradors).
While there was a brief moment of panic for me when Tony DiNozzo (Michael Weatherly) mentioned “Ziva” and “assigment in Miami,” but Cote de Pablo‘s fans will be happy to know Ziva was back in action tonight! It didn’t take long for Gibbs (Mark Harmon) to pull his team back in, including Tim McGee (Sean Murray) who was kicking it with the RCMP up in Canada.
As usual, Gibbs find himself protecting his team as though they were his family, and in way, the team is probably closer than many families. There are several close calls involving Papa Gibbs, Ducky (David McCallum), and Abby (Pauley Perrette) and a rather tense moment when Paloma’s brother, Alejandro Rivera (Marco Sanchez), pays a little visit to NCIS base camp.
Gibbs never plays things straight by the books, and that doesn’t change this season. You’ll really love the way the episode wraps up! Although, Director Vance (Rocky Carroll) leaves us with a bit of a mystery that I’m sure will play out over the course of the season. It may even bring back a few former “friends” of the team.
