It has just been confirmed that Kate Beckinsale has signed on to star in a 4th entry of the Underworld franchise. Best known for her roles in Pearl Harbor and The Aviator, the beautiful British actress is slated to reprise her role as Selene, the sultry Death Dealer. The Underworld series is an origins story centered on the centuries-old feud between the race of aristocratic vampires and their onetime slaves, the Lycans.
The first two installments of Underworld were directed by Len Wiseman, Kate’s husband in real life. The latest film has not had a director sign on as of yet. In the film’s 3rd entry, in which Kate did not appear, Wiseman abandoned his role of director, and returned to his usual role of producer. It is said that he will resume the role of producer for the 4th installment of the film as well.
The latest version of the film was written by John Hlavin, and has been rewritten by J. Michael Straczynski. Production of Underworld is scheduled to begin in March in Vancouver.
