
With the thoughts of raising major bucks for a cause very close to his heart, Patrick Dempsey took the time to personally greet many of his fans. Dempsey kicked off the second annual Dempsey Challenge in his hometown of Lewiston, Maine on Saturday, October 3rd, 2010 surrounded big his die hard supporters.
The Dempsey Challenge is a non-competitive fundraising event benefiting The Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope & Healing at Central Maine Medical Center. The Center provides support, education and wellness services to cancer patients, survivors and caregivers.
After a successful run during last years fundraiser, events have been expanded to run for two days. After today’s kick off ceremony, supporters participated in a run/walk challenge. Dempsey will be joined by celebrity cyclists including Levi Leipheimer, Chris Horner, and Kevin Livingston will partake in a fifty mile charity bike ride through central Maine.
It has been reported that more than four thousand participants have signed up for and they have raised at least the one hundred fifty dollar entry fee with all proceeds going to the Dempsey Center.
