Even though he is known for being fiercely private, Simon Pegg decided to write an autobiography entitled, “Nerd Do Well.” The star of such films as “Hot Fuzz,” “Shaun of the Dead,” “Run Fatboy Run,” and of course for his role as Scotty in the Star Trek reboot has become a first time author though he says it wasn’t planned to be a book about his life at first.
“I sort of had the opportunity to write a book and I was going to write something to do with the films, like a production diary and fill it with pictures of the movies.
“But then that kind of felt a bit boring.
“I started thinking about the past and childhood and all the little things that led to me doing what I’m doing today.
“That felt more interesting and more engaging. I just think it’s more readable and it was more interesting to write,” Pegg told the BBC.
This photo was taken of Pegg during his book launch at Waterstones Picadilly on Thursday, October 14th, 2010 in London, England.
According to the book description on Amazon, the book will cover everything from his childhood (and subsequently adult) obsession with Star Wars, his often passionate friendship with Nick Frost, and his forays into stand-up which began with his regular Monday morning slot in front of his 12-year-old classmates, this is a joyous tale of a homegrown superstar and a local boy made good.
We love Simon Pegg on the site and hope the book becomes available for purchase in the United States soon. If you happen to have a Kindle, you can grab a copy of Nerd Do Well now!
