“The Vampire Diaries” releases new poster, is that Elena?

Gearing up for November sweeps, the fine folks at the CW Network have released a new poster for The Vampire Diaries. Normally we see all three protagonist played by Nina Dobrev, Paul Wesley, and Ian Somerhalder featured but this new one shows only two.

This makes sense since the feature this season has been mostly on Paul’s character Stefan Salvatore and Nina’s double role of Elena and her evil doppelgänger Katherine. But who exactly is on this poster?

My guess is that this is Stefan and Katherine. The tagline, “Any chance their love had is dead” is pretty much a dead giveaway. (pun intended) Katherine has made it clear that, even though she is incapable of love, what little bit she could muster belongs to Stefan, but why on Earth would he want her back?

He has the best of both worlds right now. He has a beauty that is the exact replica of the women he loved and she is not a psycho bitch vampire looking to wreak havoc on as many lives as possible.

But the point that he is slightly holding her hand, and the fact that he even has a slight bit of red on his shirt, to me means that he is going to play along with her games a bit and even get a little blood on himself. Could this be a reference to the human blood he has begun to consume?

She is even rockin’ the trademark “Katherine bitch face” here and is wearing a blood red dress, a popular EVIL color. Don’t forget to check out her necklace as well.

I know that many of you Elena/Damon shippers are hoping this poster means that Elena and Stefan are dunso but I really don’t think this is the case. Though I might be a little jaded over the fact that Elena seems have to forgiven the evil Salvatore brother for killing her brother too quickly.

Woooh! I can’t wait to see the trouble that takes over during the Masquerade Ball!
