Pruitt Taylor Vince to feature as recurring character on The Mentalist!

Pruitt Taylor Vince

Great news for fans of The Mentalist AND, specifically, Simon Baker! If you are heavy into both the show and the man, then you are already privy to the fact that Mr. Baker will be directing an upcoming episode! It’s entitled “Red Moon” and will be written by Bruno Heller. I will be biting my nails throughout this one. I’m sure it will be a wonderful episode, but in my heart, it will feel as though one of my own kids is directing!

Here’s what we know about “Red Moon” per the article from TVGuide.com:

At the end of a upcoming November 18 episode of The Mentalist, titled “Red Moon” and directed by series star Simon Baker, something will happen at CBI that casts suspicion on the organization’s employees.

So, whatever occurs at the end of “Red Moon” will lead to the arrival of Pruitt Taylor Vince’s character “Agent J.J. Laroche”. How exciting is this announcement? No one can replace our regular guys from the CBI team, but it never hurts to have some new blood around to shake things up a bit. Here’s something else for you big time Simon fans. It’s now time for a quick game of “Six Degrees of Simon Separation” that I just made up 4.5 seconds ago:

Question: Where have you seen Pruitt Taylor Vince before?

Answer: In addition to Mississippi Burning and Wild at Heart, die-hard Simon fans remember Taylor Vince from Love From Ground Zero, a touching film that has a solid place in my Top 5 Simon movies. Yes, I keep a list. Taylor Vince played Walter, one member of the group of 3 friends (including Simon’s character) that arrived for mutual friend Henry’s funeral. View it, love it, thank me later.

Now for a potential SPOILER: We’ve already got a pretty good idea who is involved with the suspicious behavior in question. Toward the beginning of the season, we got a rich little tidbit which suggested that something is going to go down with Agent Hightower (Aunjanue Ellis) and her complicit behavior in a crime. I’ll leave it at that, for now. Spoiler complete.

Don’t forget to tune in to The Mentalist tomorrow night at 10:00/9:00c on CBS, to witness Patrick Jane (Simon “pretty boy” Baker) and crew in action in an episode entitled “Pink Chanel Suit“.
