In news that will surprise no one the Glee Christmas album hits stores on November 16 and is chock full of holiday goodness. At this point Glee is a freight train of warm fuzzy that is racing full steam ahead with no signs of stopping. Just barely into their second season they have had more singles in the Hot 100 than The Beatles! Granted, the music biz is a bit different now than it was when the Fab Four were causing millions of girls to pass out from shrieking, but the achievement is noteworthy nonetheless and their holiday album will no doubt put them at the top of the charts yet again.
Check out the tracklisting:
1. We Need A Little Christmas (Jenna Ushkowitz, Amber Riley, Chris Colfer)
2. Deck The Rooftop (Lea Michele, Cory Monteith, Naya Rivera, Kevin McHale, Heather Morris, and Jenna Ushkowitz)
3. Merry Christmas Darling (Lea Michele)
4. Baby, It’s Cold Outside (Chris Colfer and Darren Criss)
5. The Most Wonderful Day Of The Year (Chord Overstreet, Mark Salling, Kevin McHale, Lea Michele, Chris Colfer, Jenna Ushkowitz, and Heather Morris)
6. Last Christmas (Lea Michele, Cory Monteith, Amber Riley, Kevin McHale, Mark Salling, Jenna Ushkowitz, and Chris Colfer)
7. God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen (Lea Michele, Amber Riley, Naya Rivera, and Jenna Ushkowitz)
8. O Christmas Tree (Matthew Morrison)
9. Jingle Bells (Cory Monteith, Mark Salling, and Kevin McHale)
10. You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch (k.d. lang and Morrison)
11. Angels We Have Heard On High (Amber Riley)
12. O Holy Night (Lea Michele)
It isn’t clear whether the tracks on the Christmas album coincide with the Christmas episode or not. I would suspect that at least some of the songs will be performed on screen, like the duet between Chris Colfer (Kurt) and Darren Criss who is rumoured to be playing Kurt’s new boyfriend, Blaine. What will the tabloids call this power couple? Kaine? Blurt? And what of the appearance of KD Lang on “You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch”. Can we expect to see her roaming the halls of McKinley High? Susan Boyle has been confirmed as a special guest as well but she does not appear on the album. Odd to have such a powerhouse on the show and not use her. And no mention of a Sue Sylvester track either. I hope that we get at least one holiday song from Sue. I can see her singing “Frosty the Snowman”. Maybe the episode holds a few suprises for us not revealed on this CD.
“The Glee Christmas Album” drops on November 16 and the Christmas episode will air December 7th on Fox. Mix up some eggnog and tune in!
