Our favorite vampires and witches (not to mention the newlyt-acquired werewolves) grace us with a set of new and spoilery photos for the upcoming sweeps (read: majorly filled with OMFG moments) episode, Katerina. The episode is a big flashback revealing the origins of Katherine. You are entering the spoiler zone, so read at your own risk!
In true Mystic Falls tradition, the moment someone starts getting cozy, someone else inevitably gets nosy. While our hot vampire brothers never have the luxury of really getting cozy, except for a few stolen moments with their belles du jour, it seems like Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) and Bonnie (Katerina Graham) are instead getting quite – dare I say it – flirtatiously comfortable with each other? Enter the inevitably nosy character (and possible third leg in a new triangle), Luka (guest star Bryton James, pictured with Katerina Graham), who apparently has a not-so-hidden interest in the Mystic Falls supernatural side, and comes to town with his dad, in search for… something we won’t know until it’s too late and everyone’s in trouble, of course? And he has a quite surprising family history of his own. The plot thickens. Sorry, Mr Baldie, I’m really warming up to the idea of Bonnie and Jeremy, so my loyalties in this triangle are set from the start.
Speaking of triangles, or polygons really since at this point it’s getting quite crowded, Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Damon (Ian Somerhalder) will come to a new “understanding” after saving Elena (Nina Dobrev) once again. I’ve got no idea what this is about, but in the best Musketeer tradition “l’union fait la force” so I’m guessing they will join forces with a temporary peace treaty and they’ll avoid getting at each other’s throats (ahem, literally) in order to protect/help/save Elena. Except freshly-saved Elena of course has a not-so-wise and clearly dangerous plan of her own to get to the roots of who Katherine is and what her own future may hold, so she swears Caroline (Candice Accola) to secrecy, knowing Stefan would never agree to it. Is Stefan grilling Caroline for information in those photos? And naturally, the brothers magnificent will have to come to Elena’s rescue. YET AGAIN. Really, Elena? Don’t you ever have enough of getting your pretty self into trouble?
Now, given Damon is determined to find out what the moonstone’s power and purpose are, he turns to… the brand new (and hot) vampire in town, Rose (Lauren Cohan) and her friend Slater (Trevor Peterson) for help. We know Damon will be doing the horizontal mambo with Rose sooner rather than later, so expect sparks to fly. Point is, she’s new in town, she’s apparently more or less as old as Katherine (read: powerful and dangerous) AND she has her own agenda. Not to mention she’s the one who kidnapped Elena at the end of the Masquerade (read: she’s had her dose of Salvatore ass-kicking by the time we get to this episode). Plus Damon is clearly fishing for information, so I’m not entirely sure the horizontal mambo will end with a graceful bow out of the dancing floor here. Snapped necks or a pole in someone’s heart seem more likely.
But that’s the daily routine in Mystic Falls, isn’t it? And.. what will Tyler (Michael Trevino) be sharing with Caroline in the meantime? She saw his transformation into a werewolf, and she seemed to be this close to telling him she is a vampire. Another triangle ahead here, with poor little Matt (Zach Roerig) so unaware of all the supernatural things going on with his best friend and his (ex) girlfriend!
What else does Rose have in mind? How do Katherine’s origins impact Elena’s future? Tune in to watch The Vampire Diaries new episode “Katerina” on Thursday, Nov. 11 at 8 p.m. on the CW Television Network to find out!
