As an American I’ve always wondered what we must sound like to people from other countries. I would love to hear a real Southerner speak from the perspective of someone who has never heard it before. It must be hilarious. Well the cast of Harry Potter has been stateside the past few days doing press for the Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 and in what might be the best segment they’ve done MTV’s Josh Horrowitz has Rupert, Emma, TomĀ and DanRad try out their best American accents.
Tom Felton, who plays Draco Malfoy dives in with reckless abandon and seems to have a lot of fun with it. Emma seems genuinely perplexed by things like “The Olive Garden” and “Boo Yah”. But Rupert’s low key smooth accent comes across the best I think. Check out the video and see what you think. Bits like this are much more fun to watch than having them answer “how does it feel to be done with Harry Potter?” for the gazillionth time.
