On Saturday, December 4th Miami’s Paris Theater played host to the grand finale of the Bombay Sapphire Artisan Series, a nationwide search for the next great talents in multi-media art and photography. Hip hop heavyweights including Marc Ecko, Russell Simmons and his artist brother, Danny Simmons came out to support the artist hopefuls. DJ D-Nice provided the soundtrack as guests sipped signature Bombay Sapphire cocktails and admired the inspired art.
After much deliberation by the Artisan Series jury panel, Russell Simmons proudly announced Washington, DC photographer Stan Squirewell and Miami artist Jorge Cavalier as the first ever winners of the Bombay Sapphire Artisan Series. As a result, both artists will have their work installed at the Rush Arts Gallery in Manhattan from January 13-27, 2011.
