Madonna, the Queen of Pop (what a dumb title, who made that up anyway?) was recently trapped alongside the common people on a Virgin Atlantic flight from New York to London.
The flight was bound for Heathrow but when bad weather forced the flight to land at Stansted Airport instead Madonna and her entourage were forced to sit on the plane for several hours alongside the unwashed masses. The pop diva, not known for being especially patient, entertained other first class passengers with an impromptu yoga demonstration before being whisked from the plane and onto a waiting bus where they were taken to the terminal. A small part of me hopes she gave the other passengers a regal Eva Peron wave on her way out the door.
That was awfully nice of Virgin wasn’t it? I’d say so. Except that the other passengers were not allowed to disembark for another two hours…including the other first class passengers. Virgin’s official statement was that “often first class passengers are allowed to disembark first, hence the higher ticket price”. Well that is all well and good, but apparently there is a clause for pop royalty. I’ll bet she got a better in flight snack too.
I love me some Madonna, but something tells me that being trapped on a plane next to her for several hours might be tense to say the least. Get back in the studio girl and sing about it! It’s time for a new album!
