With all the divaliciousness headed to the new season of American Idol, I don’t know how we are all gonna handle it?! With the loss Simon Cowell, Ellen Degeneres, Paula Abdul and Kara DioGuardi I think producers KNEW they would have to pick the right replacement judges to catapult the show into another successful season.
Enter Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler.
The two utterly HUGE personalities are already getting rave reviews by those lucky enough to preview season ten. But you will have to excuse me if I’m a little skeptical as to how the show can move forward without Cowell.
These new images taken by photographer Tony Duran for Fox show the aforementioned J. Lo, the Aerosmith frontman, along with Randy Jackson and Ryan Seacrest in new promotional shots. Jenny from the Block looks just stunning in both outfits while Tyler shows he’s still got it.
American Idol, moves to Wednesdays and Thursdays beginning with a two-night premiere event Wednesday, Jan. 19 (8:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) and Thursday, Jan. 20 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT).

There is no right replacement for Simon. Maybe the previewers found Tyler and J Lo entertaining in what few carefully edited bits of Season 10 they were shown, but when the show actually airs, and everyone realizes that this is supposed to be American Idol, Simon’s absence will be beyond noticeable and unbearable. Simon is the reason Idol became a phenomenon. His brutal honesty, Brit wit, and tremendous sex appeal, as well as his intriguing love-hate relationship with Paula, another terrible loss to the show, are what captured America’s and the world’s imagination. No rock legend nor popstar can suitably replace that. Tyler and J Lo are nothing but glorified guest judges plunked into Simon and Paula’s seats in a desperate, futile attempt to keep this sinking ship afloat.
I think they all will be great! Yes Simon will be missed but he has moved on and so should we. Steven and JLo along with Randy will be a great asset to AI, I cannot wait to start watching. I love Jlo and I know her & Steve will steal the show.
