I feel bad that I had no Hawaii Five-0 news to fill last night’s gap, so I’m making up for it with these deleted scenes from The Event! Different network, I know, but my Monday nights are equal opportunity…
The Event will return on February 28th, which seems like an eternity from its last show on November 29th. Luckily, NBC and The Event creator, Nick Wauters, are giving us the opportunity to check out some scenes that didn’t quite make the cut.
Mr. Wauters gives an intro to each clip, so I’ll let him do most of the talking. The first clip involves President Martinez (Blair Underwood) and the first lady (Lisa Vidal), on the way home from an event (not THE event), when a mysterious phone call comes in…
So, it looks to me like Simon (Ian Anthony Dale) was probably the one who planted the phone, and thus has had a pretty big hand in things from the start.
Clip number two is a bit short, it shows Sean (Jason Ritter) and Vicky (Taylor Cole) returning from their snorkeling trip, just moments before Sean gets to their cabin and his life is changed forever.
Ok, I’m not sure that scene was worth releasing… I don’t think it gave me anymore insight into the characters. What do you guys thing?
Finally, the third clip is a meeting between Simon and Sophia (Laura Innes). The scene did make it to the screen, but in a much shorter version.
I really like these two characters. Honestly, if the whole show was just Simon, Sophia, and Sean, I’d be happy…
While it’s not much, I hope these clips do a little to satisfy your need for some Event news. I had high hopes for The Event at first, but I’m afraid they are starting to go astray. What do you think about the first half of The Event? Has NBC found a hit or a miss? Is it worthy of the old Heroes spot? Will you tune back in when the show returns next year?
