OMG: Ricky Gervais to reprise role of David Brent on “The Office”

I think the only good thing to come out of Steve Carell leaving The Office is that it has sped up the process of getting the shows creator Ricky Gervais to reprise his role of David Brent! (Gawd I hope he is motivated to dance!)

Sources confirm that Ricky Gervais is poised to reprise his role from the original overseas version of the comedy in an upcoming episode of the U.S. redo. As you’d expect, details are sketchy. But what I’m being told is that Gervais — who not only created the British Office but retains an exec producer title on the American remake — will cross paths (and perhaps swords?) with his Yank counterpart, Steve Carell’s Michael.

It’s also quite smart to do it right when your still fresh in everyones mind, whether they love you or not. You WILL remember all the controversy Mr. Gervais caused during his Golden Globe hosting gig!

We loved it and hope he is hired on again next year!
