It’s official! JR returns to Southfork

Good news for fans of bourbon, oil and big Cadillacs. Larry Hagman is officially on board to reprise his role of J.R. Ewing in TNT’s reboot of Dallas. This is welcome news given that the last we heard Hagman was holding out for more money and the creators were ready to move ahead without him.

Hagman later said the money story was all hogwash and now he has said that while he hasn’t signed anything yet he gave his verbal commitment. What has history taught us about verbal commitments from J.R Ewing? Nevermind. I’m sure he’s telling the truth. With Patrick Duffy and Linda Gray already on board it looks like all the pieces are falling into place.

It was also revealed that the pilot has J.R. drooling on himself in a mental hospital. I can totally see it now…we open with a long establishing shot down a hospital corridor. At the far end we see the silhouette of a man in a wheelchair wearing a ten gallon hat….who then slowly stands up and says “Hello darlin’…miss me?” ZING!

There is no word yet when this reboot will hit the small screen, but it can’t get here soon enough for me!
