With another year and another SAG Awards behind us, we can sit back, relax, and talk about my favorite part, the fashion. This year was one of my favorites, seeing so many of the women taking bigger risks when choosing their ensembles.
And when I talk about risk, I am referring to colors. Wasn’t it brilliant seeing all the shades of red, pinks, and even white dresses parade across the carpet?
“Black Swan” actress Mila Kunis set the bar high when she arrived in an Alexander McQueen Resort 2010 strapless, chiffon, sweetheart-neckline gown with a floral print in red, black, and pink. She finished her look with Cartier jewelry worth over $300,000!
Many have already named Mila the best dressed of the evening but there were plenty to give her competition.
Staying on trend with red, writer/actress/producer Tina Fey shocked fans and critics when she showed up in a red, lace, Oscar de la Renta gown. For someone who always plays it safe in black or blue, Tina wore this red number confidently and the risk paid off. I hope to see this more daring side of her in the future.
Screen Actor’s Guild nominee Sofia Vergara made quite the entrance in a body hugging, blue gown by Roberto Cavalli that featured a plunging neckline. The “Modern Family” actress confessed she kept her curvy figure in shape by working out with celebrity trainer Gunnar Peterson, proving that a healthy body can be your best accessory.
Speaking of jewel tones, Kim Kardashian wore a stunning, one-shoulder, purple Marchesa gown decorated with jeweled accents. She finished the look off with a pair of dangling earrings and nude colored high heels.
Another trend at the awards was the blooming baby bump! SAG nominees Natalie Portman and Jane Krakowski went with lighter colors and lots of bling. Portman wore an Azzaro gown in white and was frosted with two million dollars worth of Tiffany jewels!
Krakowsi sparkled in a sequined Badgley Mischka gown that featured an asymmetrical top. The “30 Rock” actress kept her accessories to a minimum and let the dress be the focal point.
No matter who ended up taking home top honors at the Screen Actor’s Guild Awards, all these beautiful women led the charge as fashion icons. They will be the ones to look out for come Academy Award time!
