When I saw these images I had to look twice. I swore this was Andy Garcia for a hot minute then I realized it was really Clive Owen with a mustache! Owen was photographed roaming around San Francisco, California on the set of Hemingway & Gellhorn on Tuesday, March 1st, 2011.
The HBO made for tv movie is a drama centered on the romance between Ernest Hemingway (Owen) and WWII correspondent Martha Gellhorn (Nicole Kidman), Hemingway’s inspiration for For Whom the Bell Tolls and the only woman who ever asked for a divorce from the writer.
The couple met in Key West, Florida though sadly there are no plans to come down to the Conch Republic for any scenes. Shooting will take place in the Bay Area and other parts of California as stand ins for not only Florida’s Southern Most City but also Cuba, Spain, and Shanghai.
This film is a passion project for The Sopranos star James Gandolfini who will serve as producer. He worked diligently for six years to get this movie in motion.
