After leaving the This Morning studios, Hugh Grant lead the celebrations of the 10th anniversary of Healthtalkonline.org. He placed a symbolic £1 coin on the Southbank on Tuesday, March 15th, 2011 in London, England.
The British actor is offering support to the online site where one can share real experiences of dealing with various medical conditions and support for their families. Hugh relates to the patients after suffering the loss of his mother Fynvola to pancreatic cancer in 2001.
He said: ‘They did more tests and the cancer had in fact spread. I remember the day I was sitting with her in the hospital and the doctors came in and said, ‘It’s not good,’ and really she had about two or three weeks left at that point – that was pretty bleak.
‘The nurses were just fantastic, whether the normal NHS nurses or the Marie Curie nurses whose entire life is spent sitting in the dark with someone who is dying. They almost earn nothing, but if I put them next to my hedge fund friends I know who is happier.’
Grant also announced news of his campaign to raise a mile of pound coins vauled at around $116,000 for the charity. For more information click here.
