Is Flight Of The Conchords star Bret McKenzie headed for The Hobbit?

He may have had a tiny (literally) role in the Lord of the Rings trilogy, but it looks like New Zealand funny man Bret McKenzie might score a role in Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit. Rumors across the internet today are saying the famed director is interested in bringing McKenzie on board but the question is, will he play Figwit or a meatier character?

I’d like to throw in my two cents and say how excited I would be to see Bret re-emerge for The Hobbit alongside Martin Freeman and Elijah Wood who are also returning. And while they are at it, how about creating a clever little role for fellow Flight of the Conchords actor Jemaine Clement?!

Filming of the J. R. R. Tolkien tale has been ongoing for two weeks now in Wellington, New Zealand.
