DALLAS gets the voice of Wisteria Lane

The soothing voice of reason on Desperate Housewives, played by Brenda Strong, has just landed the role of the new Mrs. Bobby  Ewing on TNT’s hotly anticipated (by me anyway) reboot of Dallas. I don’t know if this means that she will no longer lend her calming voice to narrate the misadventures on Wisteria Lane, but it will be nice to see her on screen again instead of just a whisper on the wind passing judgement on her old friends.

Strong joins former Desperate Housewives alums Jesse Metcalfe and Josh Henderson as well as Dallas veterans Patrick Duffy, Larry Hagman and Linda Gray in the high-profile remake. I am a little saddened to think that this means Victoria Principal, who played Bobby Ewing’s first wife Pam will not be appearing in the show, but I hope I am wrong. Maybe she and Bobby are divorced now and she’s crazy and running around Dallas with a rifle yelling about Obama’s birth certificate. That would be some good TV!

Now if we can just get Charlene Tilton and Steve Kanally on board we’ll be in good shape. Dallas will hopefully be airing later this year, and I’ll be following it closely so stay tuned. In the meantime who do you think should replace Mary Alice as the voice of reason on Wisteria Lane if Brenda Strong leaves? Beth Young maybe? It’s too late for Edie to do it and I doubt they’d hire Nicolette back anyway.
