Recap: Real Housewives of New York City Premiere

The Real Yentas of New York, I mean Housewives, have returned and they are situated back in your Thursday night TV lineup. After the insanity that went down at the end of last season with Kelly Bensimon’s breakdown and Jill Zarin and Bethenny Frankel’s friendship coming to an end, you’d think it could only go uphill from there, right? Not so! In tonights episode we meet an all new housewife, get introduced to a few new romantic interests for some of the ladies, and oh yeah, the claws come right back out!

When the episode opens we see Ramona Singer hosting a party for her new venture, her own wine called Ramona (narcissistic much?). Shouldn’t she have called it Turtle Time after her favorite drunken escapades? At least she has a Pinot, you know, her favorite! Jill shows up with her husband Bobby and she’s got mixed emotions about being there because of Alex McCord and Simon and all of the fighting that they went through last season. Jill feels like Alex is being a cold fish to her, while Alex feels like Jill was being aggressive just walking into the party like nothing happened last year. At the end of the party Alex invites Jill and Ramona to participate in an event where hundreds of women will walk from Manhattan to Brooklyn in wedding gowns in order to support how the ability to marry should be equal for all.

Flash to Alex and Simon’s house and it turns out that Simon has left his job at the hotel and now works from home for a social media company. It’s tough for Alex because they are both responsible now for their own income and they are stuck working in the same space. Then again, aren’t they always attached at the hip? To make some extra money Alex has picked up modeling and works with New York Model Management and has put together a portfolio.

Next we see Ramona who was invited to an art event by her friend Cindy, who happens to be the new housewife, where artist Peter Tunney is being featured. Ramona teases that there is going to be a twist to the event! Focusing on Cindy we learn that she’s a recent mother of two through IVF. She’s extremely close with her brother Howie and she’s very career oriented. Back to the art event we find out that the twist is that the guests are painting pictures with their feet! This throws some of the ladies off kilter because of their expensive shoes, who wants to ruin Louboutin? Cindy brings out her two adorable babies and this prompts Jill to ask Cindy where the babies father is? Not so much an appropriate place to bring that up, especially with someone you are meeting for the first time? I’m thinking Jill needs to pick up another copy of the Countess’ book!

Speaking of LuAnn, we get to her new love interest and Sonja’s too! LuAnn is dating a very handsome gentlemen named Jacques, while Sonja is dating Brian whom she met through a friend. The ladies go on a double date with their men and have a wonderful time. Looks like these guys can charm more than their dates, we viewers are in from some great eye candy!

Segueing back to Ramona we see she’s searching for a brand new assistant, a second one in fact. She takes some interviews and doesn’t exactly meet the highest quality of candidates. One girl admits to Ramona that meeting her was her first interview out of college. Cue Ramona taking over, as she’s quite the control freak, telling the girl how to dress for an interview and that she could use some good skin care. In fact, Ramona even goes as far as giving her some of her own skin care line!

Alex and Simon are getting ready to head out of town to the Hamptons with Ramona who has invited them to sleep over at her house after they all attend a mutual friends wedding there. Alex says she knows Jill is going to freak because she has no idea she’s going to be coming. Cut to Alex saying later on that she’s gotten a voicemail from Jill relaying that she can’t make the aforementioned Brooklyn bridge march because she’s going out of town. Alex finds this quite interesting as the invite to the march says that Jill was on the committee for the event.

When the group arrives at the wedding and Jill sees Alex and Simon both her heart and her jaw drops. Jill admits she doesn’t do well when she’s unprepared; she was obviously not expecting this. Later on Jill is chatting with some other guests and she calls Alex a bitch and says that Alex is socializing at a party that is so above her. Alex walks over and confronts Jill saying that she told her she knew she was coming to the wedding, but she was busy texting Ramona and the bride that day to find out if Alex was coming? Jill doesn’t appreciate being confronted in this way and kind of deflects the situation. Alex says she has no problem, she just heard two stories, and she wants to know which one is right. Finally, our lasting shot is of Ramona putting her foot in her mouth (count on her every time), as she’s talking about Cindy’s brother Howie and it turns out that he’s right behind her.

Oy…make sure to tune in next Thursday for an all new episode of The Real Housewives of New York City on Bravo baby.

Oh please take Alex out of her misery. She is such a passive aggressive. She calls Jill “aggressive” because she walks into a party and doesn’t discuss past disagreements with her. It’s a party Alex, it’s not about you. Now that you think it’s so fun to confront people in inappropriate venues. Break out in hives, and shake and pretend to be a victim again. Ramona, gossiping about someone without checking to see who is in hearing distance and then turns around and there’s her gossipee right behind her. Hilarious! These women are worst out of any of the housewives, they have to be the most adolescent even tho they are probably the oldest
