For a show that moves about as fast as my grandmother after a dose of her nerve pills The Killing is doing an impressive job of keeping me interested. The full title of this week’s episode is “I’ll Let You Know When I Get There” which sounds like they are in no hurry to reveal more secrets. It is day ten in the hunt for Rosie Larsen’s killer and after a few red herrings and dead ends it looks like Linden and Holder might be getting somewhere. But at what cost?

Hugh Jackman hangs with his ladies

You know its summertime when former Hottest Man Alive Hugh Jackman steps out in a pair of shorts! Long gone are those blistery cold winter afternoons where poor Mr. Jackman would have to head to the gym all covered up.
With the sun out and bright, we we catch a glimpse of the X-Men hunk spending a day with all his favorite ladies, wife Deborra-Lee Furness, daughter Ava, and even the little French bulldog Peaches on Tuesday, May 31st, 2011 in New York City.
In case if you missed the important announcement with the madness of Memorial Weekend, it was revealed that our beloved Australian hunk will have a cameo in the upcoming X-Men: First Class. A British reporter was lucky enough to preview the film recently and confirmed that director Bryan Singer is a big fat liar!!
Wolverine absolutely DOES make a guest appearance and it will be quite a funny bit from what we hear. Make sure you run out and watch the Marvel film when it hits theaters on June 3rd.
News from the Set: Rock of Ages

If the cast of Rock of Ages isn’t already tired of the scorching hot temperatures I give them another few days before they are! Being a native Floridian I tend to mostly stay indoors and avoid being out during the hours of about 11am to around 6pm when the temperatures are at their worst.
But with production mostly taking place around those hours I have been left with no choice!
Today’s shoot was really cute and took place at Boomers, a family entertainment center that has bumper cars, mini golf, video arcade machines and a giant wooden roller coaster that I don’t even think is in functioning order anymore! Regardless, said roller coaster was the backdrop for what looked like a re-creation of the Santa Monice Pier.
It was purely by accident that I arrived before any other nosey people did and I accidentally ended up on the set. It looked like a carnival setting with lots of extras in fun costumes and wigs. Before I knew it, I saw Russell Brand and his trademark wavy hair pop out during a scene and then I noticed a man beside him with longish hair that I could tell was a wig.
As he turned his face to the side I realized it was Alec Baldwin! Due to the nature of the shoot I didn’t dare take out my camera and because of where the shoot was taking place I knew it would be impossible for the paparazzi to capture any of this.
Luckily Adam Shankman, the director of Rock of Ages, sent out the photo above of Brand and Baldwin via Twitter!
Shortly thereafter it was time for their lunch break and I noticed they were setting up the mini golf area for the next scene. By this point though police weren’t too happy that people were around observing so I took that as my cue to leave. Alas, there will be plenty of other opportunities to check out the scenery as they have at least two more months of shooting.
Stay tuned!

Tim Burton Slams into Dark Shadows
Personally, I don’t want to see Tim Burton slam into anything but that is exactly how he described the state of his adaptation of Dark Shadows, now in production.
“It’s been hard to kind of come here because I’m just starting, and it’s a weird tone and it’s a lot of actors and, you know, we’re not starting with the simple stuff; we’re sort of getting right in there. You like to kind of sneak up on it a little bit, but this one we just kind of slammed right into it,” Burton explains.
If you watched Dark Shadows, either during its 1960s run or the reboot in the mid 90s then you know it is more or less a soap opera about vampires. Think of it is the forerunner of Passions with less crazy and fewer midgets. If you are a fan like me then you too are probably wondering how Burton will adapt that soapy quality to the big screen. Here is what Burton had to say.
“Yes, I don’t know. I’m early into it because it’s a funny tone, and that’s part of what the vibe of the show is, and there’s something about it that we want to get. But when you look at it, it’s pretty bad. I’m hoping that it will be — it’s early days, let’s put it — I’m very intrigued by the tone. It’s a real ethereal tone we’re trying to go for and I don’t know yet”
I have mixed feelings about Burton’s involvement in this. I recognize his genius, but Alice in Wonderland was just awful and I am so sick of Johnny Depp I could claw my eyes out. But Depp is a big fan of the show and I don’t think he’ll let this adaptation fall into suckville without a fight. The cast is impressive enough with Jonny Lee Miller (YUM), Helena Bonham Carter (of course), Eva Green, Michelle Pfeiffer and Chloe Moretz. If the official synopsis is any indication then the script seems to be sticking close to the plot of the show, assuming the studio doesn’t step in and insist on adding some Vampire Diaries-esque tweens to emo up Collinwood Manor.
In the year 1752, Joshua and Naomi Collins, with young son Barnabas, set sail from Liverpool, England to start a new life in America. But even an ocean was not enough to escape the mysterious curse that has plagued their family. Two decades pass and Barnabas (Johnny Depp) has the world at his feet—or at least the town of Collinsport, Maine. The master of Collinwood Manor, Barnabas is rich, powerful and an inveterate playboy…until he makes the grave mistake of breaking the heart of Angelique Bouchard (Eva Green). A witch, in every sense of the word, Angelique dooms him to a fate worse than death: turning him into a vampire, and then burying him alive.
Two centuries later, Barnabas is inadvertently freed from his tomb and emerges into the very changed world of 1972. He returns to Collinwood Manor to find that his once-grand estate has fallen into ruin. The dysfunctional remnants of the Collins family have fared little better, each harboring their own dark secrets. Matriarch Elizabeth Collins Stoddard (Michelle Pfeiffer) has called upon live-in psychiatrist, Dr. Julia Hoffman (Helena Bonham Carter), to help with her family troubles.
Also residing in the manor is Elizabeth’s ne’er-do-well brother, Roger Collins, (Jonny Lee Miller); her rebellious teenage daughter Carolyn Stoddard (Chloe Moretz); and Roger’s precocious 10-year-old son, David Collins (Gulliver McGrath). The mystery extends beyond the family, to caretaker Willie Loomis, played by Jackie Earle Haley, and David’s new nanny, Victoria Winters, played by Bella Heathcote.
Seth Grahame-Smith wrote the screenplay which is good to hear. I loved Abraham Lincoln, Vampire Hunter. Dark Shadows is due for release in 2012…I would assume around Halloween. Keep your eyes peeled for more info.

Nivea brings Hydra IQ Technology to Miami Beach

Last week I attended a really fun event thrown by beauty brand Nivea called The Beauty Influencers Lounge. It was held at one of the chic bungalows at celebrity hot spot The W Hotel in Miami Beach, Florida.
I knew as soon as I walked in and saw participants throwing beach balls across the room that this was going to be a memorable evening! We were treated to manicures from the talented team from Miami Blush Nail Lounge Boutique. They had NIVEA Express Hydration Body Lotion on hand to pamper our pinkies with a soothing mini massage.
The ambiance was fabulous, we were surrounded by products for us to try and frisbees and beach balls to be tossed around. Before ending the night, we were invited into a beauty confessional where we could give our opinions on the various items we tried out.
I also had the pleasure to mingle with fellow local bloggers including the divas from Social Esquire whom I had been wanting to meet!
And since my gift bag had samples to take home, I’ve fallen in love with the Hydra IQ line! My favorite product is the Touch of Cashmere Body Wash that leaves me smelling delish after a shower.
To stay up-to-date on all the latest Nivea news, make sure to follow them on Facebook here.
