There is a lot of activity over at McKinley High this summer and for one member of the Glee cast the news isn’t good. Fans of the supple-lipped Sam Evans will be seeing a lot less of their boy next season now that Chord Overstreet has been dropped as a series regular. The good news is that other fan faves Darren Criss and Harry Shum Jr are being promoted to full-time regulars! Ok so maybe Harry Shum Jr can’t sing but he can dance and his relationship with Tina is cute cute.
It isn’t clear whether this was Chord’s idea or not, but I suspect not. Glee creator Ryan Murphy has said more than once that he fully intends to graduate his cast members when the they complete their senior year so Sam won’t be the first fan favorite to make an early exit. What does this mean for his new relationship with Mercedes, played by Amber Riley? The press release states that Sam may show up from time to time so hopefully that will happen often.
I like Sam and I am mildly bummed about this, but the show must go on. Good luck Chord!
