Looks like the writers on Desperate Housewives are finally going to give Vanessa Williams something to do besides run away from midgets and drink tequila during her time on Wisteria Lane next season. Renee is getting a love interest in the shame of a manly former mercenary fresh off the set of ABC’s sort-of-but-not-really hit V.
Resident blue-collar dreamboat Mike Delfino (James Denton) will get some competition when Charles Mesure, who played Kyle Hobbes on the big budget alien-invasion reboot moves onto Wisteria Lane (probably in Martha Huber’s old place) and immediately catches the eye of drunken cougar Renee Walker who thinks the scruffy contractor is actually a child molester! SCANDAL! Undeterred by her theories Mesure tries to woo Renee and I’m sure sparks will fly.
Despite the train wreck that was season seven I have high hopes that season eight will bring the drama and the scandal. With that dead body stuffed in Gabby’s coffee table it certainly won’t be boring.
Desperate Housewives returns Sunday, Sept. 25 on ABC.
