With all the talk about Food Trucks in the last few months, I thought I would be able to avoid the trend. When I would hear the words “food trucks,” I swear it took me back to the days when I worked in architecture/construction and had to visit job locations. As soon as noon came around, we would hear the song of the roach coach sing loudly to the tune of “La Cucaracha!”

Yeah not very appetizing at all!

But when the folks from the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino invited me to attend their special Thursday night event where a variety of Miami’s Famous Food Trucks would park in their lot and cater to local foodies, I figured I had no right to judge something before giving it a shot.

They offer a special movie every Thursday night voted on by YOU (via their Facebook page located here). Sadly due to the rain yesterday Raider’s of the Lost did not screen to the public but regardless it was an amazing experience.

As soon as I arrived, I saw the colorful trucks lined up and I was instantly intrigued about what the food would taste like. Each truck was carefully decorated and represented the individuality of each menu. No two places were the same and the fries at one spot were entirely different to the ones at another location.

Both yummy in their own way!

I would like to give a special shout out to all the places I (and my posse of hungry people!) savored so that those of you who have yet to try the trucks or those of you who frequent them and would love a suggestion, know where to go and what to order.

Ms. Cheezious:

Top honors of the night goes to Ms. Cheezious for their A-MAZE-ING Goat Cheese & Prosciutto sandwich with a side order of sweet potato fries. This was absolutely no ordinary grilled cheese. It included goat cheese, prosciutto, tomato and arugula on marble rye bread.

It is sincerely one of the most delicious things I have ever tasted. The flavor of each ingredient was evident in each bite and I was scared as my plate began to look empty.

The following trucks all receive extremely high honors and would definitely earn a return visit from me.

The Flying Saucer:
When my friends and I arrived to the Hard Rock we were starving! We knew we would be sampling what the Food Trucks had to offer so we wanted to make sure we had space available! Our first truck was The Flying Saucer.

I ordered their French Onion Sliders and my friend Julissa opted for The Clucker which had chicken with her choice of a sauce. With approximately 28 different flavors to choose from, she went with BBQ which worked perfectly with the moist, juicy bird.

Grill Master Cafe:
My friend Karina wanted to sample a little Hispanic food and we heard Grill Master Cafe is known as a “Cuban cafeteria on wheels.” So we knew this was the place to go for a little sazon. She ordered a steak pincho and fries.

Can I just say that this is the yummiest kebab I have ever had? The seasoning of the meat accompanied by the juiciness made for a total mouth-gasm. There was also some sort of secret sauce they added to the top that really took me to the brink of ecstasy!

The fries however were very ordinary so I would suggest you pick another side or get the sweet potato version from Ms. Cheezious.

Mr. Good Stuff:
My friend Thomas sampled their Green with Envy dish which was fried green plantains (tostones) stuffed with pork and beef. But this is not your ordinary toston! Be ready for HUGE delicious bites.

My cousin Victor went for the Lord of the Fries, a giant serving of cajun fries with sliced hot dog topped with cheese & bacon. He gobbled it up so fast I didn’t have a chance to try it.

The Treehouse Truck:
Speaking of my cousin, he spotted someone walking past holding the most interesting item at the entire event. It was the Luther Vandross, a hamburger that had donuts in the place of buns!

Sounds strange and quite frankly, looks like a heart attack waiting to happen but both Victor and Thomas LOVED it.

The Red Koi:
James ordered a Dragon Roll and a hand rolled California Roll. He is not only a sushi connoisseur but he even learned how to make some at home!

So you can trust when he says how good their samplings were. He admitted that he was worried about how fresh sushi from a truck would be but his worries were put to rest after he had his first bite.

Both come highly recommended.

Churro Mania:
After all that food we ate, you would think we wouldn’t have space for dessert. Well you are WRONG! I passed by and peeked at the menu and knew I had to have some after being a major glutton earlier in the night.

We went for an order of the Twistmania with chocolate and dulce de leche drizzled on top and a portion of the traditional Crispymania with sugar and cinnamon.

Good thing we had a table of hungry foodies with us because I only managed to eat two sticks before calling it a night. Before we finished our goodbye’s, it was all gone!

Don’t feel bad if you missed out on last nights event, the Miami Food Trucks will be at the Seminole Hard Rock every Thursday until August 11th. I have so many trucks I never got to sample so you can expect to see this reformed negative Nancy there more often!
